Objectives
General Objective
At the end of the self-instructional program, the
health care provider and health education professional should be able
to acquire the requisite elemental knowledge, skills, and attitude in
using computers in learning and teaching health sciences.
Specific Objectives
At the end of the self-instructional program,
using a desktop computer with a Windows95 software program, the
health care provider and health education professional should be able
to:
- Identify the three hardwares of a desktop
computer system.
- Identify the part in a desktop computer system
that carries out the wish of the user such as to print, to do word
procesing, and surfing the Internet.
- Turn on and off the desktop computer
system.
- Connect to an internet service provider.
- Use a browser (either Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator) to surf the Internet to get information of
uses of computers in health science education.
- Access Medline and search for
abstracts.
- Search for webpages using a search
engine.
- Compose a 3-page manuscript in answer to the
question - What are the uses of computers in health science
education?
- Type into the computer the 3-page manuscript
entitled "Uses of Computers in Health Science Education" and
then
- Save it in hard disk and floppy
disk.
- Print it
- Retrieve it after closing it.
- Send it to the facilitator through
email.
- Send and retrieve an e-mail
message.
